I found this article very intriguing. I loved the way you portrayed the entire encounter. Although your blog is primarily about Africa, I'd love to hear more stories about Romanians abroad.

Hi Codrin
I have been reading your blog for quite some time and I have you in my google reader. As a Romanian myself,I agree with your comments about Romanians' view on Africans. It must be quite difficult for you to work on these issues and not be able to share them with others. I myself have had terrible experiences with Romanians working at the consulate in NYC and have formed this detrimental opinion about the quality of these people who supposedly represent our interest. Given your very direct nature, I assume the Romanian ambassador in China is indeed a special person and I would love to meet him one day. I'd like to end by saying that I really appreciate your post, your thoughts and your take on politics. Maybe things will change for our country but I doubt any of us would actually be there for this to happen. As you said, the urgency of the need for chance is so high that I cannot see myself living in Romania under this extremely oppressive system.
